itselectric is a Brooklyn-based start up with a mission to unlock access to electric transportation in cities across the US. To support this effort, we’re seeking dedicated problem solvers who are passionate about building sustainable urban communities.

The candidate, role, and relevant experience requirements below describe the expertise and skills we are looking for. The ability for itselectric to scale in this early phase is highly dependent on this role and its associated responsibilities. Candidates should be excited to do the work needed to grow along with one of the most promising climate start-ups working in a rapidly expanding industry.

Candidate Requirements:

Strong candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience deploying complex projects in urban environments and working with multiple stakeholders, relishing the challenges and satisfaction of seeing a concept built through to completion. As a representative of itselectric in the City of Detroit, candidates must share itselectric’s passion for bringing clean transportation to underserved communities.

Relevant Experience:

Includes civil engineering, construction, urban planning, urban design, architecture, transportation infrastructure, energy infrastructure, and other related fields. Candidates should have examples of projects that have been physically built and are in use. Direct experience deploying EV charging is not a requirement.

Role Requirements:

The Project Manager role centers on charging infrastructure deployments, initially as Pilots in established target neighborhoods in Detroit and municipalities across Central Michigan. Candidates will be expected to manage and coordinate the activities of the consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, city officials, and property managers. Regular site visits to Pilot installation locations will be required, as well as in-person meetings with city permitting agencies, contractors, and host site owners. Candidates will also assist in the development of processes (technological or systems based) to continuously improve the efficiency of deployment, anticipating the exploding demand for EV charging given the increasing availability of Federal, State, and other funding.

Candidates will be expected to work with autonomy, clarity, and precision. Deploying projects in urban environments is primarily a social challenge, and candidates should demonstrate the capacity to build and maintain productive, positive, and long-term relationships with stakeholders, while proactively managing the technical aspects of the deployment.

This role is based in Detroit, and will establish itselectric’s presence in Central Michigan. Ideal candidates will be required to work in-person at least three days a week at itselectric’s offices at Newlab at Michigan Central.
